Today's post is relying on Ms. felis_azuri's blog on August 7 According to the newspaper report on July 30 by "Mainichi Shimbun"(#1), a meeting had been planned to be held on August 8 in Toyama, Japan. The purpose of the meeting was to tell people in Toyama about Comfort Women issue of Japanese Imperial Forces. Since comfort women issue has been often treated in my diary, I am not going to explain it this time. But it was one of the worst examples of wrongdoings caused by Japanese Imperial Forces in Sino-Japan War and Pacific War (1937-1945). The meeting would consist of a movie and public speech. The movie is a documentary titled "Ore no Kokoro wa Maketeinai"(#2) and going to be shown twice in the before and afternoon. It features Ms.Son SinDo(#3) who was born in Chungcheongnam-do, Korean and served as comfort woman in Wuchang, Hankou, Yuezhou, Yingshan, Changan, and Xianning, China. And the public speech in the afternoon is titled "Protest and Handed-down Memories(#4) by Ms. Eriko Ikeda of "Women's Active Museum on War and Peace" What I think is a problem is that the city government of Toyama withdrew the support for the event. The city was asked a support on June 5, and approved on June 9. But the city had got many telephone calls of opposition to the support. And then the Mayor MORI Masashi decided to drop the support and the withdrawal was told to the event organizer. It is said that the city thought the meeting was slanted because the movie in the event treated comfort women issue of the Japanese Imperial Forces. I think it is very important to know that an unforgivable crime against women's human rights was conducted by Japanese Forces during the war. So no one can say that it is politically slanted to an event that treats comfort women, or sexual slavery issue. Knowing it and talking about it are "must" when it comes to war and women's human rights. Any acts that prevent such important activities should be regarded as politically slanted. That is what revisionists want to do. I cannot understand the decision of the Mayor MORI Masashi. What nerve does he have about crime against humanity? #1:戦争と女性の人権を考える集い:従軍慰安婦問題知って 来月8日、富山で /富山 #2:ドキュメンタリー映画「オレの心は負けてない」 #3:宋神道さん;the spelling was guessed by web-translation to Hangul, so there is a possibility of misspelling. #4:「引き継がれる記憶と闘い」 by アクティブミュージアム「女たちの戦争と平和資料館」の池田恵理子氏; I don't know the word "protest" is appropriate for "闘い" |
