It surprises me a lot. As soon as the voting was over, web site of major news paper stated showing the result of election. It seems like that Democratic Party of Japan will get majority in the House by their own seats only. I didn't predict this result. I didn't think that Liberal Democratic Party had already lost people's support. I think some of changes will be brought by this landslide like victory of DPJ to the politics of Japan, but I don't think that things will get better. Mr. Hatoyama will not be able to handle the problems that we have.
This morning I went to vote to the nearby community center. Since there were any other choices, I just wrote the name of a DPJ guy for the election of individual candidate. After voting the small sheet of paper into aluminum box, I got two similar but different colored ballots. One was for election of political parties; the other was confidence vote for the Supreme Court Judges. I wrote a name of the party, that was one of Social Democratic Party or Communist Party. I don't want to tell the truth about which party I voted for, so I just say I chose one of two. Keeping it secret about who and which party you voted is a right of people. Anyway, I wrote many X mark for all the judges. Someone might be a good judge, but some are bad. Memorizing all the names of good or bad judges is difficult, you know, so I just X marks on all the names. I think this confidential voting system is important to make the Judicial system work for the Japanese people. But so far, none of Supreme Court Judges has been fired by this voting system.
Then I went to my office and worked. The over hours of this month, August, have already been over 100 hours. Since I have kept on working through Saturday and Sunday, I think I have lost my precious weekend. But this is the reality in the situation which I live. And I guess that many of company men in their 30's and 40's work over hour more than 1,000 hour a year. What a country Japan is. To me, it seems that the society as whole is ill-fated in Japan. Since tomorrow, politics are governed by Democratic Party of Japan, but one thing is certain. Nothing will get better. |
