Renewal of "Enjoy Korea" is disappointing. It's just Downsizing This is the first post in year 2009. I have just got back to my apartment. I spent this New Year holidays in other place. Since 2003, I have really liked to visit "Enjoy Korea", which was used to be titled "Naver". Maybe calling it "Naver" is not correct, Naver is the big portal site in Korea, I guess, the interpretation message board might have been a tiny part of the Naver. Anyway it is here. It is a message board site on the web which makes Koreans and Japanese can communicate each other through automatic translation between Korean and Japanese. I just don't remember that was in November or December, enjoy korea said on its website that it would be renewed. They said that the site would be better, for example, uncomfortable postings would not be allowed, translation would be improved, and so on. When I read those notice, I just believed that the site would really be enhanced, and keep on doing the important role to strengthen communication between two countries. But it was wondering that many famous Japanese participants declared "Good-bye" for enjoy korea before the renewal. I thought that until you have known how the site has changed by the renewal, you could not say any good byes. The renewal seemed to be done during I was on the road for new year holidays. And what I saw after it is just disappointing. Number of categories is reduced, and you cannot upload what you would like to, unless it complies with Q and A format. It just seems to be downsizing. I'd say it has become worse. Certainly, enjoy korea had become a big web site. But what we can see in the renewed site is so simple, small, less postings. According to the members remaining, so many people have moved to "Go Korea" or "KJ Club". And it seems that threads like "Place to gather for refugees (from enjoy korea)" has been made in "Go Korea" It's just my guess, but maybe "enjoy korea" had become big too much to manage for administrative. So they were just wanted to make the site smaller. Is it guessing too much that members said good-bye before the renewal had already known what the outcome would be? It was my pleasure to read threads one after another on enjoy korea in the night with drinking. The renewal has taken up my pleasure. I have just thought about getting ID from "Go Korea", but I am not enthusiastic to do it. Both Go Korea and KJ Club do not allow to reading their message boards if you don't have ID. They are not opened to people without ID! They are not world wide webs, but world closed webs. Maybe the best reaction is to leave Korean-Japanese message boards which are really addictive, as some old enjoy korea members had done. ----------------------------------------------------------------- The image below has nothing to do with today's post. |
