Since it is located in east side of the island, the park is the place to sunrise. It also takes 70 minutes to get to the park from the port. Camellia __Trees of Camellia Japonica covers whole of the island. They blooms flowers from January to March, that makes so-called "Camellia Carpet" on the island. From seeds of camellia, oil is made in Toshima. Its 18,000-litter camellia oil production is the biggest amount in Japan. My Trip to the Toshima I visited to Toshima on September, 2005 on the way back from Kouzu Island to Tokyo. When I got off the ship, Old lady of "Kaneniso"(name of the inn) had come to pick up me, who took me to the inn. Putting my belongings in my seaside tatami mat room, I started climbing the mountain. At first I walked on unpaved way from Dounoyama Shrine. There were so much seeds of camellia on the ground. After I got to paved way like 200m altitude, I had just keep on walking on the pavedway on the west side of the island. I went to Azusawake no Mikoto Honguu(The First Shrine) and Oyamakoyama Jinja(The Second Shrine). Then I started climbing Miyazuka Mountain. But I strongly recommend NOT climbing the mountain. The road was not maintained well, even it was dangerous. Though I got to the peak, there was no view. A board indicated a view point a littel bit north of the peak, I didn't want to go there. I decided that it was impossibe to go down to Usuigou Park from the peak of Miyazuka Mountain. I just went down the mountain along the same way I climbed. Reached the paved way, I headed to Usuigou Park. It was the rule to visit three shrines in order of Azusawakenomikoto, Oyamakoyama, and Shikogami(The Third Shrine). But I couldn't find The Third Shrine. When I got back to Kaneniso, it has already passed 5 p.m. At the supper, I ordered Saku Lilly Liquor. Since this type of liquor is strong as 25% alchol, I asked the old lady to pour hot water. Usually they are mixed with portion of 3 liquor and 7 hot water in a glass. If you like strong one, it becomes 4 liquor and 6 hot water. But she didn't know that, she poured 7 liquor and 3 hot water into a cup. I...just became drunken. I used my four legs to go up the stairway to my room, laid down in Futon, and watched TV until midnight. Links Tokai Kisen(Ships) Toshima Mura(Municipal Office) |
